Reaction Scheme
Product DescriptionTB is slightly soluble in water, but does not dissolve easily in acetone, ethyl acetate, and ether. Other organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and tetrachloromethane can solubilize TB pretty well. Since TB is easily reduced with dehydrogenase to generate reddish-purple formazan dye aggregates, it is used for dehydrogenase detection in tissue samples.
